Located downstairs, this room has been especially designed for our guests who are more mature or less mobile. It has it’s own dedicated wheelchair accessible extra entrance and there are no steps anywhere downstairs, and the wooden floors are great for wheelchair users. All doorways downstairs are wide enough for wheelchair access.
The Art DecoUK House participates in the National Accessible Scheme and has been graded as Mobility Grades 1 and 2.
The room is furnished by two magnificent 1930’s French single beds (with 21st century mattresses!), and a low level original 1930’s ‘Gentleman’s Wardrobe’ that you can readily reach from a wheelchair. The 1930’s chest of drawers come equipped with tilting mirror so if you need to dry your hair whilst seated. The dedicated wet room has a seat for the shower and grip handles throughout. We have a shower chair that will be put into the bathroom on request.
Of course, this room is not only suitable to older or less mobile guests. With the two single beds, en-suite facility and a door that goes directly into the kitchen (for midnight kitchen raids)! We find older children like the perceived independence it affords sleeping away from the adults.
